| Why are you being used? |
I was having this really interesting conversation with this Indonesian chik i met a few wks ago thru a frend. She was telling me how in Indonesia, theres a lot of nepotism. To elaborate, basically...businesses are passed down generation to generation. Doesnt matter how hard anyone else works, they simply cant get to the top. So this Indonesian chik was saying that to her she feels like havin such a connection is not a good thing. People without the connections thru blood relations will think of ways to perhaps make those with the connections look bad or to get rid of them somehow jst so they can hav a shot at gettin to the top.
So then this reminded me of all these ppl that i hear tryna talk up all the connections they hav wit "significant" ppl. And they wonder why ppl use them! Basically ur askin for it if ur publically announcing to the world u hav special connections. Everyone wants a piece of the action. Jst as an example, if u say u kno a certain celeb then ppl are gona take advantage of that cuz they want to get to the celeb thru u.
What am i tryna say? Well basically, if u dont like being used then dont declare all these things that MAKE ppl wana use u. A wise person once told me that ppl treat u the way ur behaviour allows them to treat u. Jst as another example, if u ACT like a player then ppl are gon treat u like one; if ppl kno u can get them free entry then thats wat they will wana use u for.
By all means, not everyone uses everyone jst cuz they hav certain "connections" or wat not but im jst saying that if u dont like being used for wateva u happen to be complaining abt ppl using u for then stop broadcasting that particular characteristic that ppl take advantage of. If ppl dont kno u kno a certain celeb then they wont kno to use u jst to get intro-ed to that celeb. Comprendo?

A cynical view would be that everyone uses everyone. Even friendships can be seen that way. I prefer not to see it that way though.
My mum always tells me to lay low - don't broadcast things that you have or have achieved coz that's just attracting trouble sometimes.
